Horns and drums

Why can't life be more like horns and drums? Why did they have to go and complicate things? Who are they? The people that decided that being alive wasn't hard enough. Why do we have deal with the bullshit that life brings? Instead of struggling and getting depressed, we should have a recording booth. Throw on some horns and drums and we can empty our soul. Sing, rap, holler the blues. Instead we use Facebook and other outlets (such as this blog) to let the world know how unhappy we are with it.

"Don't leave me" "My job sucks" "Nobody likes me" "We lost" "Why haters keep hating?" We need the blues again. We need to drown our sorrows in funk and soul. Let them hear our pain. Do you realize how much creativity would be in the world if we put on paper, on wax, or on canvas instead of on our tweets. We could start a "renaissance" if we converted our pain into expression. No one likes to suffer and struggle. Don't just take it. Use it. Share it with the world in a constructive way. Let's stand up and say I MAY BE DOWN BUT NOT OUT!!! Let the horn players play, and the drummers drum. Grab the tambourine and tell us your story.

Life is too short to waste it lamenting on what you don't have. Worrying about what others have. Let me tell you something, you simple, lazy-eyed motherfucker. Your where you are in life because you let it happen. Nobody did this to you. You did this to yourself. Get the fuck up and do something with what you have. Bitchin' and moanin' about missing the boat. You knew what time that shit was pulling out, you were too lazy to get up early. Now what? Stop crying! Boy I swear, I'm gonna slap the shit out of you! You see what you get! Get up!! Get up!!! Nothing is easy. Anything easy isn't worth having. Clean yourself up and start over as many times as it takes. No one is going to do it for you. Be your own man. Nobody is going to remember the man who did nothing. They are going to remember the guy who gave his heart and soul and stood up to the troubles and strife of living. You may not win the fight, but at least let em' know you were there.

Inspired by the music of Charles Bradley. Your music and story keep me moving in the right direction.
