2019 The Year of The Business

I've been doing at lot of thinking about the future lately. Going over what went wrong. How I got to where I am today. I realized that I mismanaged my assets. I wasted my time, and what do they say about time? Time is money. Not only by not being productive, but by giving it away for free to people who didn't value it. I underappreciated myself and what I bring to the table. People will take and take if you let them. It's not until you recognize your value, that you begin to understand the power that it gives you over them. It's time that you start thinking of yourself as a CEO of the company that is your life.

Mind Your Own Business

How will you thrive if you spend your energy worrying about what other people are doing. Who cares what other people want or think? Have you ever watched a swim race like in the Olympics? Every swimmer has a lane. They have to stay in their lane and swim the length of the pool back and forth depending on the distance of the race. Pay attention to the last lap you always have 2 or 3 front runners. The same thing always happens in those last crucial moments. Somebody turns their head to see if they are still ahead. What usually happens is that turn of the head costs them the race. The winner is focused on one thing, and that is to win. They looking straight forward at the finish line not worried about what the other racers are doing. That's how we have to conduct ourselves. Instead of concerning ourselves with the other person's progress and gains, focus on what your doing and how to do it better and faster than the next guy. Basically to succeed you must stay in your lane. Focus on your end game and not what the next person is doing. Unless they are directly affecting your progress, it has no bearing on your success.

Time To Handle Your Business

If you were going to start a business right now, what would you have to do? You would have to come up with a business plan. Find investors. Think about marketing and all the logistics of maintaining a business. After that you have to be profitable. This takes a lot of planning and organisation. Why not translate that to your daily life. If you don't have a plan and clear steps to conduct it, everything will be in disarray. If you're tired of being broke. Budget. All businesses budget. You can't spend more than you earn. Just like money, make a plan to budget your time. The worst thing is when people say they didn't have the time. Time is all we have, it all depends on how valuable the task is to your plan. Next, think about the people in you life, family, friends, co-workers. How are they benefiting your plan. Are you doing more for them, then they are for you? Are you charging them for your services? Your life is a living breathing machine. You have to be the most interested in maintaining it and ensuring it's success.

Treat All Interactions As A Business

I have an exercise for you. I want you start giving everything you do and all your interactions with a plus or minus rating. If you do this one task, will it add something to your plan or take away from it? So for instance, eating breakfast is a plus, but eating something with little nutritional value is a minus. What adjustment can you make to change that minus into a plus? In this case it would be to eat something with higher nutritional value. So instead of a sugary honey bun, eat fruit or a yogurt. Soon you will start seeing the value in all of your decisions. So when it comes to people, it gets interesting. What do most people do? They ask for things, whether it's time, money or even advice. Take a moment to evaluate what you can barter for what it is they need. It could be a favor, or a ride or anything. The point is to stop working for free. You have to take your goals into account as well. What usually happens is you give give give, but never receive in return. You have to tax them for your services. Sounds impersonal but again, it's a business. No one can survive working for free. Everyone has something to offer. You just have to learn how to ask and trade for what you need to fulfill your goal. Successful people know this and will respect your initiative.

Make It Your Business To Succeed

So now you should have a plan, and a list of steps to reach your goal. All you have to do is everything in your power to make sure everything on that list is checked off. Do not make exceptions or excuses. Once you deviate from the plan, you begin to fail. It is up to you to stay the course. No one will do it for you. Nothing good ever happened to anyone who didn't work for it. Intentions are great, but actions will get you closer to your goal. You are the difference between failure and success. Unfortunately we are accustomed to failure. Failure is easy. Anything you want to accomplish will require hard work and dedication. Success is hard, but satisfying. I can guarantee that once you taste success, nothing else will taste better. Believe in yourself and never take no for an answer. Now go out and win.

Lastly.
If anyone stands in your way, be sure to give them the business.
