Yeah the butcher became a vegetarian. I eat salmon and tuna on occasion. For the most part I eat fresh fruits and vegetables. I also like some of the veggie burgers on the market. I was warned to stay away from tofu and soy, so I seldom eat it. Luckily for me an Indian eatery call Spice-6 opened up near me, so I can go there and have a curry rice bowl with tofu and naan. It helps me when I have the urge to eat out. I still only drink water and the occasional fruit smoothie. I make those at home with my very handy Vitamix. I haven't eaten fast food, aside from a slice of pizza every so often. If we order carry-out I get the broccoli with brown sauce or bean curd with mixed vegetables. I've been able to cut out bread and potatoes.
Earlier in the month I started focus on my protein intake. Since I don't get it from the usual sources, I decided to supplement. I always snack on raw nuts or put them in my Greek yogurt. I also keep cottage cheese in my fridge. I also decided to try the famous protein shake. I was a bit intimidated by the thought of blending my own, so I both some premixed and portioned carton packed ones from Costco. They are packed with 30 grams of protein and are a great snack after the gym.
Aside from the health benefits, exercise helps me reduce stress. I can clear my mind when I'm on the treadmill or on a trail somewhere. I was lucky enough to reconnect with my old running partner, who is a fantastic motivator. I'm already scheduled to run the Electric Run 5k on September 6th. Today I read about the Fall in Love 5k for children fighting cancer. It's on September 21st and I will try to do it because it's for a charity and especially for the fight against cancer, which has manifested itself all through my family and friends.
I'm about 8 pounds away from my first goal of 300 lbs. My new goal will be to fit a suit I got in time for my running partner's wedding in late July. It fit's now, but I wanna be able to 'wear it' by then. My next weight goal is 275. I'm more motivated now then ever so I will continue to push and stay committed to myself and my struggle.
Monday 6/3/13 308 lbs from 336 lbs |
